SHOULD IT BE TOO HARD?

He is growing,
And terror mounts with every step.
Myriads of expectations now being placed on him,
Torment him.

Like a jaguar caged, he struggles for release.
Like a bird tied down, he longs for expression in his flight.

He is growing,
The panic in him likewise.
Glimpses of who he can become make him tremble.
The light of who he wants to be gives him the shivers.
The fear of who he is expected to be weighs heavily on him like a slab of concrete.

Like a lion, he wants to run, wild.
But the slow, steady pace of the tortoise entices him.
He just wants to live. Should that be too hard?

He is growing.
The lilies of the field he envies;
In their glory, they revel today;
And make no business of what they become tomorrow.

The birds of the air are the same;
Having no worries about what they will survive on;
They just bask in the spread of their wings.
Is that too much to ask for?

He is growing.
Responsibilities of his new age seize his brain in panic.
The fear of anticipated independence brings anxiety.
The coming period of 'no accountability' makes him taste lemonade.

Should what he has longed for since childhood,
Bring so much dread?
Why should his longing for freedom sore his heart?

He is growing.
But his peace is slipping through his fingers.
He is trying to hold on to it.
To not let go of it.
To bid dread, fear, panic, and whatever the likes goodbye.
So as to keep his peace.

He is trying to walk on the sea and not fear the storm.
To sleep in the cabin while his boat is seriously rocking.
All he desires is something to look up to.
Someone to give him stability in this whirlwind of changes.

He wants to breathe;
Desires to breathe.
He longs for it.
Craves for it.
Pants for it.
To breathe!
Should it only be an illusion?
