Trying to make ‘weird’ a missed call.☹️
“Please sir, did you see a phone on the chair you just sat on?” I asked a man who just went out of my shop, trying not to sound accusational.
First, it was my tablet I woke up to, playing a movie at the end of my bed this morning.It would have been okay if I wasn’t so sure of what I did before going to bed last night. I remember checking the percentage of the battery which was 92% and deciding not to charge it because I did not really plan to use it. I picked up my Bible to read and placed my phone beside my pillow, deciding to read a novel on it after my devotion. How I met the tablet at the end of my bed, playing a movie, and the battery at75% when I woke up is beyond my comprehension.
Trying to zone out the buzzing noise around me,I put on my best
Please- can- you- have- mercy- on- me- look
and asked again, ‘ a phone sir, please did you help me see a phone on this chair’
In my mind I was thinking
“Ah Dara, on top how much snacks you wan sell, you would now loose 150k plus phone. You see how wise you are”
This time again I left a white earpiece in my phone and now it is dangling alone from this same chair the man sat on
Can my day get any worse
“Phone kè, what concerns me with your phone, please answer me jare” he said in my native tounge and returned inside the shop to sit on the chair again. If a strong breeze blows right now, no kidding I am going down
“Should I raise an alarm” I think, “or hold his shirt and shout like those Nollywood movies, but on the other hand what if I am wrong, I am new to this neighborhood and it will not be a good first impression”
While contemplating all of these, the man stands up and tells me he is going to withdraw cash from a POS( point of service) machine and disappeared before I could even string any of my thoughts into words. In despair I made to go back inside the shop. The peace like a river that attended my soul was caused by the glaring sight of the very phone I was begining to tremble like a cat about, on the same chair the man went back to sit on.
Thank you I wisphered into the air after the man and to God
PS: Only if the mystery behind my tablet can be resolved this easily☹️🤦.
