When are you reaching out?

Pa,

I have been waiting,

Being a good girl.

I haven’t spoken a foul word,

Or lashed out at anyone.

I have had my meals in time,

My bathe in time,

I have been a good girl.

I haven’t told anyone you are not around.

That as at the age of six , I already know my way around the kitchen.

I haven’t told anyone the cool breeze keeps me company at night,

And that I hide in my wardrobe anytime I have nightmares,

I have been a good girl.

The food is finished pa,

Electricity and water supply cut off,

The bills are overdue.

The roof is leaking,

The floor flooding,

Rodents are keeping me company pa,

But I haven’t told anyone,

Aren’t I a good girl?

You said you will come back for me,

How soon pa I am beginning to crack.

Very soon, you said you will bring home the very best things I deserve

I no longer want them pa, they would never be the same as your embrace,

Or your laughter that used to boom and echo in the house

When are you reaching out?
